SIP Comm Phone
[SIP Communicator Phone and IM -- concluded on ]SIP Communicator is an audio/video Internet phone and Instant Messenger. It supports some of the most popular instant messaging and telephony protocols such as SIP, XMPP/Jabber (and hence GoogleTalk), AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC, Bonjour and new ones will be coming soon.
This particular project concerns a number of tasks needed to be accomplished so that SIP Communicator could become a viable or even better alternative for Skype, but all in Open Source.
The following tasks are to be accomplished within the scope of the project:
- Developing a Java implementation for the ICE protocol.
- Audio/video telephony for XMPP/Jabber.
- Conference calls.
- File transfer.
- The project's own website
